What we doing about sustainability?
Sustainability. It’s a buzz word that we’re all hearing a lot of right now. But there is a reason that sustainability is a hot topic – it has never been more urgent to talk about. The harsh reality is that humans are at the heart of climate change, the biggest contributors, and we need to step up our efforts, all of us.
Limiting global warming to 1.5°C
On April 4, 2022, the Summary for Policymakers of the IPCC Working Group III report, Climate Change 2022: Mitigation of Climate Change was approved by 195 member governments of the IPCC. In order for global warming to be limited to 1.5°C, global greenhouse gas emissions would need to peak by 2025 and be reduced by at least 43% by 2030. The report also offers options in all sectors to cut emissions in half by 2030. Some of these options include:
- Ramp up clean energy – By 2050 all electricity generation should be low-carbon
- Cities need to shift to zero and low-carbon transportation. Without that change, CO2 emissions are expected increase up to 50% by 2050
- Decarbonise industry What we doing about sustainability
- Incentivise green buildings with climate-friendly building materials, energy codes, and tech
- Restore forests and promote agroforestry, cutting food waste, protecting carbon-rich ecosystems
At Corporate Traveller, we’re dedicated to reducing our footprint by saying “no” to plastic, reducing the use of paper and unnecessary packaging, recycling electronics, waste reduction in our offices, offsetting carbon emissions, and more. We know we have a way to go, and we know we aren’t perfect, but we are committed to walking the walk.

Putting us to the test
In addition to all of that, we can help you identify the best suppliers that fit your values, needs, and sustainability goals. When our client Blackmores implemented a supplier code of conduct, we rose to the challenge. Blackmores, Australia’s leading natural health company, has always had the environment and community at the heart of the company.
Blackmores Case Study
“We’re a values-based business, and we strive to make a positive difference to the world. But we’re limited in our impact if our suppliers aren’t doing it too. Our code takes a holistic view and considers key values such as employee conditions, community, ethics and sustainability. Our investors, our consumers and the community expect us to behave and operate with integrity, and the consequences can be significant if we don’t.”

Ruth Ford, head of customer success for Corporate Traveller Australia, explained, “When the Blackmores team first spoke to us about the Code, we were excited straight away. In our assessment, we were able to demonstrate how Corporate Traveller cares about treating people well. We showed how we give back to the community, we talked a lot about ethics and good governance, as well as our commitment to sustainability and reducing our environmental impact. Caring about people is in our culture, so working on the Code and answering all of the questions was a task we really believed in.”
We understand it can be daunting to undertake something as big as sustainability. There is a lot to learn, a lot to do, and a lot of room for improvement. But as Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” Take that first step with us.
